In a meeting I was in this week on energy law, it was stated that carbon is trading at $6 per ton. It destructive value is $39 per ton. The petrochemical companies want to set a global rate at a low level that will perpetuate their dominant economic and political positions. This is impossible, so they will play with making sure the confusion plays to their economic advantage and to the planet’s and humanity’s detriment as long as possible.
