This blog is intended to kick off a discussion on how Resilience Networks could support the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals
which will probably progress over a sustained period of time. However I thought it worth starting the discussion.
From a systemic viewpoint the Millenium Development Goals represent one of the truly great challenges. However the "perfect storm" which humanity faces globally has placed the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals at risk. As discussed in the following article: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25747360-23109,00.html, the particular combination of the Global Economic Crisis and the Global Food Crisis threatens to not only stop but to reverse the advances made as a consequence of the Millenium Development Goals.
In forming the strategies for the development of the Resilience Network concept, I wonder if this is the ultimate goal for RN? Capabilities such as those envisaged for sustained response to community resilience concerns and issues would provide a significant impetus to the development of stronger, more resilient communities.
