Rhode Island transitioning to community vaccination sites | AP News
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island is winding down operations at its large coronavirus vaccination sites in favor of more community-based vaccination clinics, state health officials said. The state Department of Health, in response to public input, will run about 100 COVID-19 vaccination clinics at schools, churches, senior centers, and other community sites over the next month.

Vaccine makers racing to update COVID shots, just in case | AP News
Vaccine makers are racing to update their COVID-19 shots against the newest coronavirus threat even before it’s clear a change is needed, just in case. Experts doubt today’s shots will become useless but say it’s critical to see how fast companies could produce a reformulated dose and prove it works -- because whatever happens with omicron, this newest mutant won’t be the last.

Amid Push to Vaccinate Children, Other Challenges Deluge Pediatricians
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Near the end of one of the first days that 5- to 11-year-olds could get a coronavirus shot last month, Dr. Anne Steptoe, a pediatrician, sat hunched in her cramped office between packages of diapers, onesies and children’s books, cataloging the week’s patients on her laptop. One teenage girl had been sleepless and suicidal; another was anemic. Several young boys had gained weight during the pandemic.
