> Sierra Leone officials have reported a new Ebola death <http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2016/01/ebola-sierra-leone/424323/> just hours after global experts declared the devastating West African outbreak was over. This video by the Thomson Reuters Foundation <http://www.trust.org/> was filmed on November 8, 2015, the day Sierra Leone was declared Ebola-free, and tells the story of three nurses who survived the disease. Sorie, Sewa and Yokie were studying in Freetown when the epidemic began. The friends were given the option of working in the “red zone”—the Ebola isolation unit at Connaught Hospital—and agreed, despite the danger. Around 4,000 people died in the epidemic, including 200 healthcare workers.
