Nearly all COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. now are in people who weren’t vaccinated, a staggering demonstration of how effective the shots have been and an indication that deaths per day — now down to under 300 — could be practically zero if everyone eligible got the vaccine.

An Associated Press analysis of available government data from May shows that “breakthrough” infections in fully vaccinated people accounted for fewer than 1,200 of more than 853,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations. That’s about 0.1%.

JERUSALEM — Israel has been a trailblazer in the post-pandemic world, largely returning to normal in May following one of the world’s fastest vaccination drives.

But dozens of new cases recently emerged at schools in two cities, Modiin and Binyamina, leading to hundreds of people being quarantined. Israel has made 12- to 15-year-olds eligible for vaccination, but many have yet to get shots.

Hospital wards across Uganda are filling with COVID-19 patients as the country faces an aggressive surge in cases. One of the biggest issues have: a serious shortage of oxygen.

EU drug regulator positive on early data on mixing coronavirus vaccines Due to how the approved vaccines all stimulate an immune response through the spike protein, the EMA believes there is good reason to believe that mixing vaccines is both safe and effective. POLITICO

The European Medicines Agency Wednesday said there are “good scientific grounds” to suggest that mixing COVID-19 vaccines is safe and effective.

That’s because, currently, all the approved vaccines work in a similar way — by stimulating an immune response to the viral spike protein, the EMA said in an email.
