Record-breaking heat waves are becoming the norm, pushing the human body beyond its limits. High temperatures exacerbate chronic conditions like cardiovascular and kidney diseases, often leading to fatal outcomes. In 2023 alone, more than 2,300 Americans died from extreme heat. But the impact of heat stress affects the health of millions of others. For outdoor workers and vulnerable populations, the risk of heat-related illness is particularly acute, as prolonged exposure to high temperatures can lead to kidney injury, dehydration, and other health crises.
