To CLEO’s Friends and Supporters – On behalf of the Board of Directors of the CLEO Institute, I am pleased to share that the Institute’s founder and director, Caroline Lewis, was recently recognized by TIME Magazine (link to article) as one of “31 people who are changing the south” for CLEO’s work “awakening all to the dangers of climate change.”
With Caroline at the helm, CLEO has worked tirelessly to educate communities about the causes and threats associated with climate change and, importantly, also to push for solutions. CLEO has conducted hundreds of workshops, hosted mayors’ roundtables with the leaders of a dozen South Florida municipalities, led rallies, participated in governmental planning meetings, disseminated published findings, was a founding member of the Miami Climate Alliance that now includes over 70 organizations, and so much more. We are pleased that our work has influenced individuals and helped shape local environmental policy.
Upon learning of this honor, Caroline said “CLEO’s success is tied to so many people – including the many scientists who participate regularly in our forums and workshops, the educators who lead the CLEO Teacher’s Network, the volunteers who help organize our workshops, and the individuals and foundations who fund all that we do.”
But we have much more to do as the climate actions taken in the next five years will resound for decades. So while we celebrate this recognition and congratulate Caroline, we also want to thank you and all of our supporters without whom we never would have succeeded.
Sincerely,
Mario Facella
CLEO Board Chairman
