> Important advice for RELIEF AID Distributing individuals and Groups. We know we are all doing this with good heart and intentions but we need to realize this earthquake is a long term disaster. We need to think about communities, women, children and dissemination of information. This is where my own experience has helped with our team
>
> Following are tips for everyone who are on field and distributing relief items.
>
> 1. Always try to distribute relief via local youth club , mothers group, youth group or even utilize child clubs to distribute materials. I know we want to distribute items with our bare hand to the victims but this is jut the thing you DO NOT do in big disaster times like these. Make sure you stay when the club distribute so that you know it reached to the right people. WHY DO THIS? because this gives the club/groups a sense of ownership and also responsibility towards their own communities . This helps create less friction and conflict in future between aid relief distribution .
>
> 2.Get the local government authorities like the vdc officer, police, army whoever present to assist you with this distribution. Tell them to write names of people who received things .
>
> 3. Make a form before hand regarding the items who have taken and after you distribute make sure which ever state person is present to sign and stamp. This is your proof that you and your team was there to distribute items. WHY DO THIS? Our government wasn't ready for such a big disaster WE werent ready , we always knew but we ignored it and surpassed it. But now if we want to help the government know where things have reached this is the best way to do so.

> 4. Whichever VDC or area you reach get information on the deaths, number of children and women in the area and houses that are completely destroyed. If you cant get this while you are there, trying mobilizing the communities to do so and get in touch with you and your team.
>
> 5. PLEASE do NOT take too many pictures while you are in the affected area. DO NOT make the victims feel like they are a product on a shelf. I understand you need to show the people who helped you proof, but understanding the victims emotions and respecting them is very VERY IMPORTANT

> 6. Take an account of historical places that were in the area. If the temples are still there or not. Mobilize the local community to search for historic statue and safeguard it with an account of the state officer present.
>
> 7. Tell them about the state allocated fund which needs to be spent within 30 days of disaster.
>
> 8. Children between the age 6 to 10 are psychologically disturbed due to the first hand experience and by experiencing the reaction of their parents or any older person . When are you in site talk to them , laugh and even play a small game. Keep an account of the children in the area aswell. Children need play and learn counselling after earthquake.

> These points are made along with my father who today cannot visit the places because he is paralysed but we want this information to flow among youths of Nepal who are working hard to build their country back.So these are just points I feel is important. Let me know if anyone thinks to add other important things.
