> Dr. Jonathan Day, Professor of Medical Entomology at the University of Florida’s Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory will lead a presentation and discussion around the question “What is Zika Virus?” The discussion will be presented in a free webinar hosted by Life Sciences South Florida, a consortium of higher education institutions, research institutes and economic development agencies.

> Topics to be covered include: Where did Zika virus originate? What are important aspects of the natural history, ecology, and epidemiology of this emerging vector-borne viral pathogen? Does Zika virus pose a threat to the health and well-being of Florida residents and visitors? How should Florida prepare for the inevitable arrival of Zika virus? Can the establishment of a sustainable Zika virus transmission cycle in Florida be avoided?
