Freedom to Breathe Tour - Miami
The Freedom to Breathe Tour event in Miami, held on Monday, August 27th at Vizcaya, was a big success. CLEO, in collaboration with WLRN and Climate Nexus, convened a diverse panel of experts to discuss climate justice issues impacting Miami. Climate gentrification was at the forefront of the conversation, highlighting that many vulnerable communities in Miami Dade county face multiple threats from the impacts of climate change. In addition, the conversation focused on the EPA Clean Power Plan rollbacks from the current administration and what this means for our environment in Florida and beyond. Joining us on the panel were: Valencia Gunder, Dr. Ben Kirtman, Commissioner Ken Russell, Kate Stein and Cathleen Kelly; with opening remarks by Ian Simpkins from Vizcaya Museum and Yoca Arditi-Rocha, CLEO's co-executive director.
