But what are the installation challenges renewables face in NYC? Come and hear a panel of expert speakers presented by the United for Action Sustainability Task Force, as we explore the landscape of renewables in the urban environment.

>> Speakers:
>>
>> Chris Neidl, a founding staff member of Solar One, will discuss its innovative community solar initiative, “Here Comes Solar”, as well as other solar initiatives in the NYC area. Chris has worked as a residential solar installer in Northern California, a solar educator and policy advocate in New York City, and as an off-grid energy project manager and advisor in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Chris has also served as an adviser on solar energy-related policy matters for members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the New York State legislature, and the New York City Council.
>>
>> Eadaoin Quinn, Education & Administrative Coordinator at Sims Municipal Recycling, the company that processes all of NYC’s metal, glass and plastic curbside recyclables. Ms. Quinn heads up Sims’ permanent Recycling Education Center, as well as their mobile recycling education lab, “The Recyclarium”, which has already reached nearly 15,000 visitors. Ms. Quinn also serves on the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board. But for this presentation, she will be telling us about the wind turbine that SIMS has recently installed at their facility in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
>>
>> Jeff Irvine, Lead NYC Solar Ombudsman for Sustainable CUNY, manages numerous projects under Sustainable CUNY’s “NYSolar Smart”, including a solarize campaign in Brooklyn, and permit streamlining with the NYC Dept. of Buildings and FDNY. He works to reduce the non-hardware 'soft costs' of solar photovoltaics (PV) and to make installing rooftop solar easier, faster, and cheaper for homeowners and businesses. He also leads both the New York City Permitting and Interconnection Working Group, and the New York City Financing Options Working Group. In addition to discussing Sustainable CUNY’s solar initiatives, he will demonstrate the NYC Solar Map, showing us the potential in our own rooftops.
>>
>> And of course there will also be time for Q&A with each of the speakers. Please come and join us. It should be a fascinating evening!
>>
>> Thank you for all that you do.
