> <http://awoko.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/ebola-survivors.jpg>With funds from the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Welthungerhilfe, about 685 Ebola affected households have begun benefiting from a cash transfer of Le350 000 into accounts that the organization has opened for them.
> Among the 685 affected households are 158 Survivors with the rest being people that were affected one way or other. The money is part of a Le1300 000 money that WHH is dashing out to homes affected by the deadly Ebola scourge in the four districts of Kailahun, Pujehun, Bo and Kenema.
> The monies are given to them in tranches with Agriculture having 3 tranches and Business having 2 tranches. As for households choosing to do business, they at first received Le950, 000 in the first tranche and with Le350 000 in the account being the second tranche. The accounts are being opened in the Community banks of where the affected households live.
> The purpose of the money is for the affected households to develop business plans that work out best for them and to embark on agricultural activities from which they would sustain their livelihoods. Added to the above from WHH is the provision of non-food Items to the same households.
> Initially to benefit from the cash transfer were 42 households from Gerihun in the Bo District; 60 from Daru in the Kailahun District; 19 from Kandu Leppiama in the Kenema District and 42 from Zimmi in the Pujehun District.
> The Assistant Project Officer, Santigie Kargbo stated “this is just the beginning, there is more to come.” The Deputy Case Management Manager, Amadu Kamara appealed to the people “Please do something with this money.”
> The Chief of Dumagbe in the Zimmi Makpele Chiefdom, Pujehun District, Fodie Malikie Bellay told Awoko “We need more help than this as this village was badly affected.”
