The mission of this Working Group is to explore how culture and environment shape mentation, behavior, social process, and social structure. The gross morphology of the human brain has not changed significantly over many hundreds of thousands, or perhaps millions of years. Yet, there are significant differences in cognitive capacities, functional life capacity, and quality of life between a human living in a modern metroplex and his ancestors of even ten thousand years ago.
If not from the evolution of the brain, what has determined the differences in mental capacities, and behavior.
